Western Digital R&D Media Tool Relocation
Over 200 complex equipment relocations for installation in 60,000 s.f. of renovations that included creation of cleanrooms, wet and dry labs, and office space.
XL coordinated tool relocation and 60,000 s.f. of tenant improvements within an occupied 300,000 s.f. building for a Western Digital division. XL demolished existing Class E space, then constructed new class 10, class 100, class 1,000, and class 10K cleanrooms; wet and dry laboratories; and office space. The project included over 200 tool relocations from other client sites to the new cleanrooms. XL provided detailed tool coordination, complex phasing, and logistics planning to decommission the tools per City of San Jose requirements and package, ship, install, and seismically anchor the tools in their final location. An aggressive design and construction schedule was developed during preconstruction. XL achieved the project schedule by procuring long-lead equipment items early. XL also built a state-of-the-art VESDA fire alarm and flammable gas monitoring system. The project was delivered in six phases.
