XL Construction was tapped by cancer drug developer Exelixis to renovate 137,000 s.f. in three existing buildings for a new headquarters in Alameda, CA. The buildings were demolished down to their structures and re-purposed for Exelixis’ exact needs. The scope included infrastructure work on new mechanical systems, new electrical distribution, and new roofs on all buildings. Interior buildouts covered 70,000 s.f. of Class A office space and 10,000 s.f. of warehouse space. XL transformed 50,000 s.f. into lab support spaces and labs for chemistry, biology, and tissue culture. XL also built process utility suites with a 4-hour rated Class H chemical storage bunker.
