XL Construction transformed a former manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art, global agricultural research site for Bayer. The R&D Center, 133,000 s.f. of dry shell space, was converted to R&D labs for Bayer’s Biologics and Vegetable Seeds divisions. XL’s scope included fermentation and formulation suites, growth chambers, grow rooms, insectaries, and collaboration hubs for scientists. A collaborative design-build process enabled on-time completion within an aggressive six-month schedule for Phase 1 of this project. Based on the team’s strong performance and zero safety issues, Bayer tapped XL for Phase II: construction of a 15,000 s.f. pilot plant, a 27,000 s.f. R&D greenhouse facility and two head houses on five acres of new test fields.
