AstraZeneca The Cove B1 Consolidation
This four-floor fit-out of an existing 80,000 s.f. new shell building included routing of lab gases, placement of sensitive equipment, and vibration mitigation.
To better foster scientific collaboration, AstraZeneca joined four of its business units into one dynamic facility, enlisting XL Construction for a four-floor fit-out of an existing 80,000 s.f. new shell building. XL articulated a design that puts complex science on display through the transparent integration of lab, office and communal spaces. Using a design-build approach, XL was able to join with the owner, design team and trade partners to achieve an on-time delivery and no change orders. A customized cost log empowered AstraZeneca to make informed decisions from the very beginning during design and preconstruction. Work included routing of lab gases, placement of sensitive equipment, and vibration mitigation. XL’s practices contributed to LEED Platinum certification and, using a no ladders policy, earned an outstanding safety award from AstraZeneca.
